Try something like..
If nothing is spoken, then visit your control panel, select Speech Recognition, select Text To Speech. And ensure your settings are correct.
Ugh! Painful! Windows is a drag. Took 20 minutes to debug why, after activating TTS it still wouldn't work. Finally got it working. All is happy. Thanks DJ.
Now if only I can figure out why my sound card seemingly stopped accepting serial commands (hint hint : ).
