Checking Out This Robot

User-inserted image User-inserted image

I plan on Hacking this Robot by adding some servos, a camera and speaker. I know @jstarne1 had some. Any advice from him and the members?

I will take some pictures during the build and post them in the robot section.

Any advice on how to add navigation? Once Dj releases one of his systems (IR or LIDAR) the navigation problem will be resolved. My goal is to stay with only using EZ Robot materials.

Hey Nomad, whaaats up!  Yes I do have some of these guys. That being said inside there is very little room. You will need to start out by gutting the insides and cutting the battery box out. You can keep the original gearbox to save some money , BUT! it is very slow, so if you want more speed a pair of continuous servos are the way to go. The inside of the head just has a speaker, I would remove it and drill a hole for the cam, you will need to dremel out some of the inside plastic before you will get a camera to fit. a v4 will fit on the bottom, but the IO Tiny is best in this use case I believe. As far as space for batteries, it is possible to maybe use the inside area of the tracks or attach it to the back of the bot and cut away the cup holder. The cut holder is a little weird, as no cup sits in it correctly or a can of cola. The EZB has its own camera so no need to  have the built in speaker, toss it!

Also if you want to make the head move side to side you will need to cut out the mount for the head stalk and shorten it. I have not found a way to remove the mount without breaking it. a 9 gram servo would work well for the head movements.
