I am having the exact same problem as the person in this thread:
https://https://synthiam.com/Community/Questions/1229&page=1
Computer picks up the bluetooth fine, definitely on COM3, but when I try to connect in ARC, I get the error message.
The behavior shown in the youtube video in the thread above matches mine exactly.
I got this gift for christmas and was so excited, but I am not sure what to do now. Seems pretty weird to have so many problems with connectivity, especially right out of the box.
I suspect this may also be a faulty board, as the blue LED blinks consistently, rather than interrupted, during the entire pairing process, but I really don't want to have to ship this thing back and forth!
Please help! I have done everything the tutorials suggest (reseating the BT module, removing the sticky stuff on the bottom, etc.)
did you read the whole thread you referenced? did you try everything suggested? if so then maybe you need to contact support. DJ's crew usually makes your troubles go away if it goes that far. may take a couple days to fix your troubles.
That's truly a shame you're having problems. Rest assured they want to and will take care of you. Since true hardware issues are rare, they will first want to make sure you tried the troubleshooting steps first.
You will love it once you're up and running!
Yeah, I've tried a bunch of other fixes that people have used to get it working: deattached the BT module from the 4 pin connector, rubbed off the sticky tape, tried it again, reattached the sticky tape, tried it again, no dice.
I've installed ARC on 3 different machines: Win 8, Lion with win7 in parallels, and regular win 7. All 3 can see the device as 'linvor' or whatever, and pair with it fine. A system check confirms that the OS can communicate with the board (as does the fact that the red LED exhibits the characteristic flickering, then solid on, then flickering again) but it still cannot connect.
I get the error message:
Attempting connection to COM3 Comm Err: The operation has timed out. BbytesToExpect: 1
Received: Disconnected Connection Failed: System.Exception: Controller Not Responding at EZ_B.EZB.Connect(String portName) Disconnected
Thanks to anyone who can offer advice or has been in a similar situation!
sounds like a seldom needed call to customer service is in order.
Is there a number I can call them at? Or is the email message service the only way? It explicitly says DONT contact them about trouble installing or setting up, so i am not sure what to do. If it's a genuine problem (which I think it is) is that the way to go about getting help?
If you use the Contact Us, there is a disclaimer that states we will not help you build your robot. Of course we'll help you with connection troubles
Because the EZ-B is a circuit board, sometimes static will affect the components. If you can verify that you are using the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack, then there may be trouble with your EZ-B and it will need to be replaced.
Use the Contact Us and select "Warranty Claims" and someone will contact you back. Make sure you follow the instructions regarding allowing us through your Junk/Spam filter - otherwise you'll be back on here asking why no one has contacted you
