Hi all,
This is my first post on the forum, and hope this question hasn't been asked before. I searched for a similar question, but only came up with WII Remote results.
I would like to use the EZB V4 as the main control in a new robot, but I did not want to use the mobile app for the control. I am old school, and would like to have a physical controller in my hands to control the robot. I know you can use the WII Remote and have been playing around with that, but the draw back is that the signal passes thru your PC to the Easy builder project.
Is there a controller that will connect directly to the EZB V4 without passing thru the PC? I want to be able to take the robot out to places, and not be tied down to my PC network.
Thanks,
EZ-B requires some kind of computer connected via WiFi, either PC or Mobile App. Advanced users can develop their own controls on a microcomputer like a Raspberry Pi, but whatever the controller is must have an operating system and hte easiest are Windows, iPhone, or Android running ARC or EZ-Bilder Mobile.
Alan
Thanks for the quick response.
This is what I was afraid of. I have always liked the feel of a physical controller vs. touchscreen control while playing games and such. It goes back to the days of growing up with Atari and Coleco Vision......lol...
I know it may be a stretch and may add lag time, but now I am thinking of toying around with a bluetooth controller to be connected to my android phone, and run the ARC mobile app in the background on that device......
Yeah! U can do that. I know Jeremie (ezrobot engineer) has an android app that lets him use a joystick with ARC mobile.
I have had a few attempts to add joystick support - and I'm still wanting to. The trouble has been with the analog sticks. They are either very specific or run generic keyboard mode.
So I'm not fully sure what the implementation would look like at this point. But do expect joystick support natively in ARC mobile in the future.
Maybe Jeremie will chime in on how he's doing it. It's some sort of screen mapping application for android.
Thanks DJ! I will search to see if Jeremy has added any tutorials on this yet.....
I just bought the "iPega Wireless Bluetooth Telescopic Game Controller Joystick For IOS iPhone iPod iPad Samsung HTC Moto Android PC IP117" from Amazon and it will be here friday. Nice 3 day weekend will give me some time to play around....
The other option is a small portable Windows computer and a Logitech or Xbox remote, so you have full ARC and a real remote/ Something like the VOYO v2 or V3 (I have a V2, and it works well, but has an issue with occasionally overheating which can be scary). It will run headless, so you could use Teamviewer or another remote control app on iPhone or Android to get the application started and in the condition you want, then just use the Joystick to drive the robot.
Of course, if you are building your robot rather than using a Revolution robot, you can just include a Windows computer on-board that has a screen (a lot of use the acer iconia w3-810 tablet because you can get it cheap on eBay and it works well with ARC).
