Robotic Grippers Based On Granular Jamming

This is way awesome! I wonder how easy this is to make though?

from the vids i seen its way to ez just a balloon with coffee in it and a small vacume pump

I'm trying to think where I can get a tiny vacuum pump..I wonder if a hacked 12 volt fish tank air stone pump would work..it looks like you only need air in for release..I wonder if after a while the balloon itself would squeeze the air out ready for the next pickup...hmmmm

You do need a pump to suck the air out of the gripper so the granular jamming effect will happen as its the vacuum that causes the jamming
