Questions With Speech Recognition

My speech recognition was working, although has always been a bit flakey (sometimes works, sometimes didn't) but in the last few days it has stopped completely. Other posts made me think that it was language incompatibility based and if I run debug I get the following message when I try to add the speech recognition control: "The language for the grammar does not match the language of the speech recognizer" Aha! I thought and promptly changed my language to english (United States) but this has made no difference (previously I had a UK set up), so two questions which I wonder if anyone can help me with:

  1. Is this grammar message the same as the language message that others have reported? 2)How do I fix it?!

Any ideas gratefully received - I've been pulling my hair out for three days now...

Sorry you are having issues.

Thanks MovieMaker - pretty confident it isn't the mic as I tried downoading skype and the test call on it worked fine. I installed openoffice on the laptop recently & I wondered if that had messed with the grammar/language settings and have unistalled it again to no avail. Does anyone know if the debug message I am seeing "grammar language does not match grammar language of the speech recogniser" is actually related to a language mis-match (as per other posts I've seen) or is indeed some bizarrre grammar mismatch?

I've solved the problem for myself:) As anticipated it was (as always seems to be the case with speech recognition isssues) a mis-match betwwen the USA settings in E-Z builder and any Non-USA profiles for windows 7. I did a clean re-install of windows 7 and set all my settings: keyboard, language, location etc. to be USA and voila; problem gone away. I've subsequently been able to re-introduce my european keyboard and reload Open office (although I set that to for USA settings) and all still working fine. I thought I'd close it out here anyway for those that may later tread this path:)

Hi Cripi, in the earlier versions I had exactly the same problem but it did not raise it's head with Bobs Acer Apron. I think the new builder versions must have overcome it but I'm not sure.
