I don't know what "group" you are in for Dec 28 orders. There's a chance yours went out today, or next week. Probably not the week after.

Pre-orders keep piling up. We organize them into groups as we receive inventory. I think the manufacturing facility will be online in 2 weeks. Then we will have an infinite supply :)

Many orders that were supposed to be shipped on Friday are delayed due to an issue with DHL. I have yet to find out what the issue is because they haven't given me an answer.

Ugh DHL. I don't know how they are in Canada, but I have had more trouble with them in the US than any other carrier. Late deliveries, deliveries to wrong adddesses, lost packages. I don't know how they stay in business.

They decided they need customs brokerage clearance for the first time - ever. Normally we have fantastic service from DHL. They are fast and usually surprise us with shipping times. As of this shipment, it's sitting waiting for some documents for clearance. I'm signing the documents to release the inventory now.

Probably the uptick in business caught the eye of a customs inspector if this is unusual for your interactions with them. I know they are well respected in most of the world, just compared to UPS and Fedex I have not had great luck with them in the US.

They once lost a 300 lb telephone switch (worth $60,000 just in hardware, let alone the $250,000 in software installed on it) at Dulles Airport for three weeks. Finally found it by reviewing security tapes and discovered that three larger pallets of stuff had been put around it so no one could see it in the warehouse.

I pre-ordered on 12/14/2011 at 6:50:14 PM and got an email saying I was in "Group 2" for shipping, but I just checked the status of my order and it's still "Step 1) New Order ".

I hope you didn't forget about me... And please don't think I'm complaining... It's just soooo hard to wait when you're excited and expecting something as good as an EZ-B complete kit!

It seems DHL has passed the buck onto Canada Customs. They've decided to pick on EZ-Robot and go through every package to collect all taxable imported goods. They want every possible cent from our import. It's not that I have any objection to the Canadian Import Laws - it's that some prior notice would have helped us schedule time for their greedy procedure.

I picture a bunch of Canada Customs tax paid employees sifting through our packages while shipments for large Oil and Gas corporations pass right by.

The Raspberry Pi guys had a similar complaint about UK customs. If they imported components to build their Raspberries from Asia, they had to pay tax on them. If they imported the components already assembled into Raspberries they didn't. One reason they're getting them built in Asia and not in the UK. Daft!

DJ you may need to contact a freight forwarder for your shipments. Carriers can provide this service but in DHL's case they obviously did a poor job, inexcusable for them to let a shipment be held up that long. If you use multiple carriers even more reason to have an independent freight forwarder to work with you. Query freight forwarder under Wikipedia, it will tell you what they do... and for imports all that paperwork has to be done correctly by your supplier! At a minimum I would change carriers as the one you are using is the absolute worst I have ever dealt with... my 2 cents!

However, I opted for the least expensive shipping option (regretting it now given the unexpected initial delay) so I am not sure if they provide any further tracking data or not.

I am not worried, just getting more excited by the minute for my kit to arrive so I can start building. IN the mean time, my wheelchair motors are on the truck for delivery today, so I can start the hardware part of the build.

@thetechguru yeah there is no tracking information for your shipping method. if you're in the USA, shouldn't take too long :)

it's hard to say really. our postal service hands it off to your postal service. then it's up to yours. sometimes you can paste your tracking number in your postal service website and see information. try that :)

I had a package this morning from Maker Shed, pity they don't sell the camera jobbie. So, now I have the EZ-B but nothing to plug in it! Should have thought that one through a bit further!

You can at least make sure your Bluetooth communicates with the board. If you have any LED's, I believe I read you can connect them directly to the digital ports and drive them with the "Set Digital" object, so you can at least play with something (if you don't have any, you can pick up a bag of assorted LED's for a few bucks at Radio Shack).

I have been through my son's car bits and found two servos, and some micro servos we had for an Arduino project that never happened, at least I can start on the head movements. I just can't wait!

I need a camera too.... so if anyone has a link where they sell a compatible one I welcome any suggestions. :D

@iskandershah depends on the shipping method you chose if it is trackable. rarely do ppl pay the additional $20 for tracking information, depends on that.

nearly all packages will say the same thing on tracking information. you can eventually use the tracking number in your local postal service tracking website. that will usually work.

That is correct. When you purchased, there is a drop down that allows you to select the shipping method. There are a few shipping methods, and they are calculated in realtime from the shipping company. The slight delay you experience before that page is our server querying the shipping company with weight and size information to obtain shipping cost to your destionation.

The cost of shipping for you was Small Packets Air ($37.79)

If you did not choose air mail, your package come by boat, and that would take about 2 months.

So, if you are asking if ez-robot can guarantee delivery time, then that answer is no. We are a manufacturer of hardware and software for our robot platform. We are not a shipping company :). When purchasing, you agree to the shipping contract with the shipping company. The shipping options you are presented with during purchase is your interaction with them. You are purchasing a shipping option from the shipping company - you are not purchasing a shipping option from ez-robot. The information and links are presented to you with all information. Please take time to read the email from the shipping company that is sent to you, it explains in detail and has links to more informaiton.

If there is a delay in shipping by the shipping company - there is nothing ez-robot can do. It is your shipping purchase with the shippin company. You are allowed to contact them to discuss any issues you have. :)

@iskandershah lol no need to chill, there is nothign wrong clarification is important with shipping. Very important, because it is necessary to understand the relationship of the shipping purchase. We sell physical items, much like eBay or anywhere else. However, when it comes to shipping on the internet, people misunderstand what they are purchasing.

If I said "yes" to your question, EZ-Robot would be responsible for a timeframe of a service that is not within our control. :)

In case anyone's interested about costs of importing in to the UK, just received my EZ-Robot kit this morning.

Went for the more expensive Canada Post Xpress Post International option to the UK as I wanted to be able to track the package on its journey in case it went wayward. It took 5 days to make it from Calgary to the UK customs office, three days for them to process and hand off to ParcelForce, five days for ParcelForce to notify me of the customs payments required, and then a day for delivery after customs payment was made.

Customs paid on contents of a EZ-Robot kit & motor controller all worth $250 + postage came to 47.82 which breaks down to 34.32 for Import VAT and 13.50 for ParcelForce's UK customs admin fee.

Personally I think import tax is outrageous then to add insult to injury Parcelforce add on an admin fee for reading a label on the parcel eek

I only used the normal postal option and I got mine in 10 days, and with the additional camera I had that in about the same. So far no additional charges from the robbing b..... I mean TAX office.

I can not believe! From Canadian post tracking history follows: it is sent from Canada on January, 20th... Today is evening on February, 18th! Maybe the Canadian mail has found a surface way to Israel??? I should look at the terrestrial globe once again! :-(
