Power Io Tiny Using Digital Port

Can I apply my 7.2vdc power to the D0 port to power up my Io Tiny instead of using the power port plug? My load is 3 micro servos (using a 5vdc converter attached from the ports D1 thru D3).

Obviously I mean the two power pins,,

It's not the intended way, but powering by a digital port will work.

Thank Dj. I didn't want to remove the plug and solder in wiring. I will post the project so you can see why.

You don't have to remove the barrel plug socket... just flip the board over and solder wires directly to the barrel plug posts... That's what I have done...

Hi Richard, I had a cable already made that has a switch and battery connector installed. It is already installed in the project. I am just being lazy.

It is good to know that the buss can be used if necessary. I assume light loads only.

Damm Richard, That's a great idea. I never thought of just leaving the barrel connector and soldering on to the pins. Times like this is when I realize that sometimes my OCD gets the better of me. Knock, Knock, Knock Penny. lol :P

The IoTiny can still handle decent loads when powered as you suggested. Please keep in mind that you are bypassing the polarity protection so make 100% sure your red power wire goes to the digital port red power connection and black to black and all will be good ;)

Hi Jeremie,

I was concerned about something like that. I assumed the buss bypassed something in the regulation of power for the IoTiny.

I've been busy, so the project has been on hold. I hope to post it soon.

Thanks for the info.
