Omnibot 5402

Hello. For a couple of years I am "only" involved in B.E.A.M-robotics based on analogue circuits. Now I like to modify an omnibot 5402 with ezb stuff. Never fooled around with controlling robots digital, based on microcontrollers and so. I am a bloody beginner on this and so I have thousand of questions... Here a few: Is there any kind of step by step tutorial about modding this kind of omnibot with ezb? (tips, tricks, possibilities etc.) Could I use the original motors to connect it to ezb? The things I like to integrate is: Controlling the Robot (just driving functions) via bluetooth with any kind of controller (Wii-controller?). And I like to replace the cassette with any mp3-Speaker-system. Is it possible to simply switch something with the ezb-"mainboard". For example control the mp3s hardware-buttons over the ezb remotely? This features, including a wireless cam with mic + a kind of interphone-system would be enough. The aim is to contol the robot also via internet with the possibility to communicate with persons remotely. It would be enough to speak "through" the robot perhaps via bluetooth. Is there any audio-interface for this onboard the esb? Sound Transmission to pc should work over Mic on Camera? I know this are many questions, but i would be glad i just some of them could be answered. Excuse my probably bad english, greetings from germany...:)

Thank you!

Christian

First, welcome.

Second, check out the showcase section of the forum. The Omnibot is a popular choice, and is similar to the Robbie Sr., Omnibot 2000 and Hearoid so plenty of details in there.

And lastly, check out the tutorials, they will be a great help.

The community is always here to help too if you have any specific problems.

Welcome! To add to Rich's suggestion, try out the search box on the forum home page and use a key word search. The forums are quite extensive and sometimes tips are added in multiple threads. Sometimes the thread title doesnt match because of lively debate and subjects are intermingled. You're sure to find answers you're looking for. Just keep in mind that there is more than one way to do some things and it all depends on what you need your robot to do. For example: Do you need your robot to lift heavy things or will it only move it's own arms? Do you need it to have maximum efficency so it will run on a single charge all day or will an hour or two be ok? I think you will see after searching around. There are great ideas in here! Most important is to have fun and enjoy your project.:D

Thank you both for fast reply! I´ll do so.. Yes, seems obvious that modding a 5402 is similiar to hearoid and omnibot 2000. Perhaps I asked to fast, before reading "everything" in the tutorials and forums...:) Half of my questions are already answered now by the power of READING:) Thanx again!

It never hurts to ask:) Unlike other forums nobody will only reply saying to search, we will point you to the right place and offer as much guidance as possible short of physically doing the work for you.
