Josh, Why?

Josh, is it really nessessary for you to post on every unresolved thread? It's kinda anoying and is flooding the forum and my email. It's also making it hard to see liget posts and pushing others back. I know your trying to "Clean up the queue" but is that really going to happen? I think most people dont really dont care and and wont bother to go back and make the change. After time wout they just fall off the back of the queue anyway?

Rsprectfully, Dave

@Dave - All open threads need to be closed. Even if they are pushed way back in the que. Every single day, each EZ-Robot staff member is notified as to how many open tickets there are. When people do not mark them as resolved it makes it look like questions aren't being answered when someone that isn't familiar with the forum comes on.

Although it is really nice that Josh took the initiative to try and get more people to close their threads, I understand how it can be a little annoying.

@Josh - Thank you for putting your efforts in to this. Your support and dedication is always appreciated!

We have now implemented it where EZ-Robot staff can mark a question as resolved for the user. If we do not hear a response from a user on an open thread for a certain time period, we will assume that their question was resolved and give credit to the user we feel did the best job of explaining the answer.

Thanks!

Josh is a true assist to this forum. He's put a lot of time into helping us all and I respect his talent and drive. I just had to mention that things were getting a little busy with all those old posts popping up one after another. Thanks for the effort Josh. No disrespect intended.

@Dave , Sorry about that, Im sure if you received updates on those threads you might have been email bombed lol. If there was a way to ask without that i would have took the less annoying option as my email rings on every thread and I post a great deal.

There are a few of us along with the staff members who try to pay attention to the threads and users who created them. We want to make sure every ones questions are answered and create a image for new users that issues and requests are tended to in a reasonable time. It was already a "rule" that they needed to be closed but the thread being opened also looked like you might have more questions to answer or had not yet been answered. Since yesterday this reduced the open tickets from 7 pages down to 2-3 so it made a positive impact. Agian I apologize it bumps the thread.

It sounds like Alan came up with a solution to help clear out old answered threads. Thank you Alan!

@Aameralis- Thanks for the props man !

I have held back from policing/nagging in the questions for a while but totally agree with getting them signed off as done for the same reasons mentioned above. It is frustrating not knowing if an answer has actually solved a question, if it helped or if more help is needed (especially as many of the answers I give are based on theoretical assumptions rather than practical experience so I'm never 100% confident that it will work despite the track record), plus the marking of them as answered is a nice thank you for the help.

The solution Alan has mentioned is great, although it's no substitute for those asking the questions marking them as complete or asking follow up questions if the suggestions didn't work.

But if nothing else, it's pushed my "answered xx questions" to triple figures:)

@jstarne1 - great effort on getting posts closed, thanks !

If anyone feels that they didnt receive proper credit for answering some of the threads in question let me know.. I went through and closed them all and did my best to give the proper credit.

That is unless your're Niek. ha ha ha..

Thanks Mark. I was wondering why I suddenly got a bunch of closure notifications all at once on threads that the original poster had seemed to have disappeared.

OK, this makes total sense now. Thanks everyone for being so concerned in helping all those of us needing help and keeping things tidy around here.
