What I did is get mini usb pc speakers that have a 2.5mm jack and connect that to your mp3 player board and give the little guy power
for me this felt easier at the time than buying an amplifier board and 2 inch 8ohm pc speaker which is the alternative.

Oooooor you can get a set of pc speakers and take them apart and amp is inside and 2.5 inch speakers
