Hello! I Have A Question! :)

Hi, there! I joined! I wanted to start things off by asking this, I have 2 Omnibot 2000s. I see that some of you have repainted your Omnibots. I want to give mine a fresh coat of paint. So I was wondering, whats the best paint to use and if I need to sand the plastic, whats the best way without damaging the plastic details? I intend on purchasing the ez robot kit in the future, but for now, I want to paint them a different color. Reason: we are having a STAR WARS themed party and I want to make them look less toy-ish and more droid-ish. So I welcome any suggestions. Also, if you know how to make battle damage marks, PLEASE let me know.

You can do an internet search for "Gunshot stickers" that you can apply to the surface of your robot to simulate battle damage.

I don't think you need to sand the plastic(judging by other posts).

do a quick search of the forum and you probably will find an answer.

Or you can wait till everyone is back from the dead and the forum gets busy like Friday.

4 the paint, i would probably use spray paint. my only concern would be if the pores aren't opened you will have to use a lot of layers of paint or something like primer (don't really know if the primer will work). :)

OK, Here's what I do:

Ruff up the plastic a little with 350 - 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper. Clean the sanded plastic with Naphtha or a water & alcohol mix. Tape off the parts you don't want the paint to cover. Krylon has a top quality plastic paint. Get from your local Ace, True Value, WalMart store. Follow their directions. I don't think you need a primer with the Krylon products but read the label

Another great product is DulpiColor Perfect Match in the rattle can. Their paints adhere to fiberglass or plastic but you need to use their primer or Adhesion Promoter. However always test primer, paint and clearcoat on something other then your project first.

Here's the link to there Adhesion Promoter: http://www.duplicolor.com/products/adhesionPromoter/

You can find there products in auto stores like Auto Zone, Checkers and O'Rilley.

Good luck and have fun!

Nice, taking it all apart is the hardest and most nerve racking parts.
