Floor mapping creates an image of the path that your robot has taken. Without a localized positioning system, there is no accurate method of tracking the location of your robot. We have tried and within 2-3 minutes, the robots position is inaccurate - even with wheel encoders.

We have some ideas for the future using beacons to align the robot's direction. Our tests are successful, but there's some work to be done still - mostly due to reflecting of the beacon signal
