I finally upgraded my old EZ-B V3 to the latest EZ-B V4 In my old setup, I connected to the EZB using a USB to TTL adapter that was connected thru the UART port. Can I do the same thing with the EZB4 UART port?
No - what version of the ez-b v4 do you have? It tells you when connection occurs in ARC. If it's a /2 then you can once the firmware has been released for USB connectivity.
i'm not sure about the EZB v4 FW, but i just got it a week ago.
Depends where you got it from. Check the status window when ARC connects to it. It'll say the version.
If i'm looking in the right place (the popup box in the bottom) after connection it shows EZ-B v4 ID: ........
@robotdude If you have a v4/2 you wouldn't have to use the scan tool to locate it... It will automatically pop up in the box labelled Discovery (right side) in the connection control (click on the wifi antenna looking icon)
Look in the status window that pops up at the bottom when you connect to the ez-b. You can copy and paste the contents if you need us to read it for you. It'll read CONNECTED, check what version it says. Or paste the contents here.
this is what i'm getting:
EZB 0: EZB 1: EZB 2: EZB 3: EZB 4: Screen Resolution: 1920x1080 (96x96 dpi) Attempting connection on 192.168.1.1:23 Connected to 192.168.1.1:23 Reports EZB v4 OS With Comm 1 EZ-B v4 ID: 38-50-0-0-46-255-60-57-58-38-39-39 Setting battery monitor voltage: 7 Setting battery protection: True Setting i2c rate: 100000 EZ-B voltage is 13.348571904 EZ-B temperature is 25.39318697205904656C
Perfect... You have a COMM 1 ez-b, which means you will need a EZ-B v4/2 Comm Upgrade that was released yesterday. The USB firmware hasn't been released yet. Shouldn't be much longer.
Perfect! Right now Data is offline until the USB update. I cannot connect remotely to the ARC computer if the Wifi is used by the EZB4.
You know... you can put EZ-B into client mode so both the EZ-B and the computer are on the same WiFi network..... See https://synthiam.com/Tutorials/Lesson/15?courseId=5

Yes i know that... Because our high-security login process to our WiFi network we cannot make the EZB basic client to login. Besides, why to use WiFi if you can connect the EZB directly to the computer that controls it?
Gotcha. There are other solutions, depending on the network's subnet, but probably not worth pursuing since USB connection is on the way. I have a use case as well so am waiting (im)patiently for the USB adapter.

Any updates with the EZ-B v4/2 Comm USB firmware support?
The USB comm usb interface and firmware will be posted when it is available
