Different Method To Direct Connect A PC To An EZB?

Maybe this is a question for EZ Robot but I'll try here first. Last time I tried to contact EZ Robot with a question they did not get back to me.

This not a mission critical question I need to get answered but it's something that I have wondered about. I recently had a friend ask me this question when we were trying to troubleshoot an issue I was having at the time.

So, Currently I have multiple EZB's directly connected to a PC using a USB to Serial conversion cable. The connections are through the USB port on the PC to the Camera port on the EZB V4. This method is documented at the EZ Robot website here: EZB to PC Serial/USB  Connectivity

I gotta pause here and say that finding needed info on EZ Robot's website is difficult.

Anyway, here is the question; Is there a different way other than through the EZB's Camera Port (or a WIFI connection in AP or Client mode) to direct connect the EZB to a PC? Can it be achieved through one of the EZB's three Uart ports somehow? It looks to me like all you need is a TX, RX, and a ground. Both the EZB's camera port and it's Uart ports provide these pins.

, what do you know about this? Any other help is welcomed. Thanks in advance.

There are three ways to connect to an ezrobot ezb4.

  1. WiFi AP mode. That’s when you connect from your pc directly to the ezb4 via wifi. This way requires an additional network interface for internet access.

  2. WiFi client mode. That’s when your ezb4 connects to an existing WiFi network. Your computer discovers the ezb on the network and connects to it. This way maintains your internet connection.

  3. usb (pc to ezb4 camera port). The camera port converts into a tx/rx uart for connectivity.

@Synthiam Support, I see you removed the AI generated answer where it said I could direct connect a PC to an EZB through one of the Uart ports. By doing that and with your answer are you saying I can not direct connect the two through one of EZB's Uart ports?

Thanks for the help.

I dunno what Athena said but sounds like it was off base. Lots of times the ai just makes stuff up. But most times it’s good - lol

the three ways written above are the ways to connect to the ezb v4 from ezrobot
