Control Command Latency/ Protecton Policy

Hi,

I am interested in a Robot Controller with Video Feedback together with command output through WiFi.

I found the ROLI or the EZ-B v4 WiFi Robot Controller quit interesting as it has various software platforms to use too.

However, I have the experience of owning some wifi controlled video feedback robots such as the Bookstone Rover 2.0 or even the SRV-1 (the best toy to me) has the command latency, i.e. if I give it a forward command and stop it before it will fall out of the table for around 2 inches ! it usually no hope! (Problems of software planning or loss of radio transmission)

Sometime it is OK but sometime NOT, the reason I think is that they do not have the time managed-acknowledgement of command feedback and usually the data transmission priority is given to the video stream so that no repetitive looping is used for command check......

A good design example is my Japan-made biped robot from VSTONE Co. I hold a PS2 Controller, and I give a forward command to the robot, it will go forward and if I immediately press the STOP button or even take out the batteries immediately while press the FORWARD key, it will immediately stop, that prove it has a protection policy. (I check the waveform of the PS2 controller, it communicates 60 times a second to the robot, even I assumed it use 10 times for protocols, it actually at least have 6 times checking per second. )

Just before I consider the EZ-B v4, do you have comments about this controller/ software ?

Hello @Raytang welcome to the forum!

One great feature of the EZ-Bv4 is that it has two separate streams for commands and video so you won't see any latency between the two.

Sending commands to our robots is instant, you will see feedback on your robot right away in real-time.

Check out the last few minutes of the video below to see the responsiveness our robots have even when connected to an Android device:

Thanks for your interest, I encourage you to join the robot revolution with EZ-Robot, you'll be glad you did!

The network protocol and communication of ez robots are real time. It was engineered for as little latency as possible for responsiveness to video and servo control.

There are no other products in the world that you can compare with eZrobot:)

Thanks for replies! It make me interested in learning and explorering more about the eZrobot.

BTW, will you planning to design some module(s) such as digital gyno that can be added to selected servo(s) in real-time to make some walking balance stuffs for biped robot ?

cheer.

We have many many many many add ons which are being worked on.

The size of eZrobot features to date are much more extensive than anything else available anywhere else. And we continue to grow and add features.

I would recommend spending some time on our website to find out more about our awesome little community and the number of new features released each month.
