OK so at the fair I was able to check out 3d printers coming in the near future. Like November is the targets these were telling me. The best printers were 2500 dollars but not only had excellent accuracy but could pump out a part at .15 mm resolution about 3x faster than others. Right now the YODA figure has become a popular demo print to show how accurate it can be done. I will post some demo pics too. Anyways I had discussions with the owners of a few of the printer companies. Makibot, plastibot, Ariea ect. I was surprised that money spent on a kit or rebuilt model does not mean you are going to get better quality or a functionally reliable machine.
Here are my results with the MakerGear M2 and no modifications to download STL files.
Looks like some crazy spaghetti inside. I recommend to always print with a raft and supports. Otherwise from this picture it appears your printer does a good enough job to make usable parts.
I usually will add supports, but I wanted to see what the untouched download file would produce.
I just got a daVinci 1.0 3d printer. It was on sale for $399 I can't wait to try it out.
Hey Justin, I'm not sure how you feel about the proprietary filament cartridges of the daVinci so just an FYI. I don't have the links right now but there's great info on soliforum.com about how to hack the chip in the cartridge to let you thread other filaments through it.
