Spud The Pup Bot

Greetings all, It's been quite a while since I've done any type of robotic stuff due to life.  Getting back into it I wasn't sure what I wanted and came across the Spot Micro on Thingiverse. Through a lot of trial and error I remixed it to fit an EZB (just barely), along with some other modifications that seem to fit so far. I'm no CAD guy so I'll see if it self destructs from operator error. The 12 servos are EZ-Robot heavy duty, the camera and Ultrasonic sensors are also EZ-Robot because its just easier. The black is printed in carbon fiber PLA and the gold is just plain PLA. Having been a long while since building a bot on this platform it may take me some time to get it up and running nicely. I also have to put the LEDs in his face above the cam in case anyone was wondering about the holes. Thanks for attending my babbling =)

Oh wow, that's a cool project! What modifications did you have to make for it? That's a project I would enjoy doing! Thanks for the inspiration - now I just need to find the time, haha. I can't wait to see it up and running.

Hey, when you get it up and running - post this robot as a robot showcase because you get credit by doing so:D That's a quick tip, haha

Hi DJ,  I remixed it to use round 25T metal servo horns, increased the bearing stud diameter in the joints to fit my bearings, Increased the center frame length by 50mm, Cut a hole in the electronics bay and added a platform to the bottom for the EZB to sit on, Remixed the head and face to fit the EZ- Robot camera, did away with the rear LCD to just use a simple off/on switch, put channels in the shoulder tops to route the servo wiring, added a tail because it's a dog. I put a hole for the balance charger in the frame side but was having issues depinning it so I'll get back to that.

I enjoyed the build overall, even though I'm not a CAD guy and theirs probably room for improvement. I'm gonna print him some kind of cradle while I learn to make him move, so he doesnt self-destruct. lol

Welcome Back!!!! It's good to see you again!

I'm impressed. This looks like something I'd love to try. I've only built big robots but I've been thinking about getting into 3D printing for a while now and doing some smaller robotics stuff. A little (for me anyway) dog like this looks like it would be fun and fit the bill. I could see it hopping around my two real 50 pound dogs and keeping them amused. However they may think it's another of their chew toys and eat it. LOL.

Thanks for sharing. Please keep posting!
