Wiring Question From A Newbie.

I am working on my R2D2 Project and have a simple question. I hope one of you guys can help me with it. I am trying to wire existing 4.5v motor to ez-b. Existing toy has a small head turning motor with 2 wires coming out of it. One Black and Red reversing the polarity reverses the direction of the head turning. My question is how do I wire this motor up to ez-b to be able to control the motor in both directions like servo? do I use 2 separate ports? Is it even possible?

Thank you in advance.

Seb

You will need a motor controller to do that. I believe the one DJ sells in the store here will work great with those motors.

Yep, Herr Ball is right. You'll need an H-bridge. DJ even has a video on how to wire it up in the Tutorial section.

I started to read some info on h bridge and it says it has to be connected to port D0 I have my Roomba control using that port. Is there a way to have the h bridge working on different port? Thanks

I believe the current H bridge does not need to use d0. The one he used to sell had some quirks and he did some special coding on d0 to make it work. If you hit the little question mark next to the description in the store he says to use d1-d4 and any 5v pin from another digital port.

Check that the picture matches the video, but I think the video is for the old one.

Edit: In fact, I can't even find the old video now, but it was the bv4113 H bridge that DJ no longer sells that needed d0. The current one should work on any 4 ports plus the 5v pin on any other port.
