Robots

Hello Everyone I am new to this group however have been interested in robotics for several years now, I just had a few questions to ask the community. What do you think the biggest need we will have in the next 20 years that will include robotics. And I know allot of you have years more experience than I do but in your opinion do you think it is too late in the game to start a robotics/Tech company? Thanks and look forward to talking with you.

Welcome to the forum @KrytpicYeti

I've been thinking about this a little bit myself these days. Here's a graph I found for the Technology Adoption Lifecycle:

I think that right now is the perfect time to start a Robotics company. From my perspective, I believe we are still in the early adoption phase for mainstream robotic technologies. Once consumer acceptance is fully underway the demand for robotics will likely far outweigh the supply. I have a feeling it is already moving into the Early Majority phase right now. I continue to see more and more consumer AI and Robotic technologies becoming a part of our daily lives. Autonomous vehicles are here, home assistants are popular Alexa, Google home, etc., Robot vacuums are everywhere, and schools are implementing robots programs at a very quick pace (which is great for EZ-Robot). It seems we are at a real historical turning point.

Robotics and AI can be used in virtually any industry and it will take experts in those industries to know where to apply it and how to make it work from a practical stand point. I would suggest that you take an area that you are comfortable and have some knowledge in and apply Robotics/AI to it. This will be what is going to happening on a large scale in the coming years, might as well get started now:D I'm glad you arrived at our forum @KrytpicYeti because the EZ-Robot platform is a revolutionary short cut to apply robotic technologies to your every day life or business idea!

Hey @KrytpicYeti I would suggest we are only at the beginning of an emerging robotics industry. Robotics in manufacturing, CPG etc is very mature but these are all fairly simple devices performing a limited number of functions. The majority of robotics opportunities, unfortunately will emerge where there are cost savings and that usually means reduction of human labor. So if you think of every task a human performs across every industry you will get a quick idea of where robotics can be applied today. If we just pick one industry say hospitality, example restaurants, serving tables, fast food preparation, bar tenders, clearing tables etc. These tasks although relatively complex can be enabled today using AI, Sensors and Actuators. The implementation of robotics in any of these tasks could result in cost savings in 2 to 3 years. Other industries such as retail, perhaps grocery, store greeter, way finding, stocking shelves, stock checking, shelf compliance, checkout ... These will all have heavy adoption of robotics for similar reasons. As minimum wages go up and costs of robotics go down, anywhere there is a 2 to 3 year ROI, robotics will replace that role.

Cost take out is not the only area that robotics will grow examples Increased Productivity robots are faster, work 24*7 don't take breaks. Quality: Robots don't make mistakes and if they do they learn from them. Safety: Any task that endangers a human is a prime target for robotics.

EZ-Robot is a great platform to prototype on and try out new ideas quickly with little investment required. Every one of the tasks I listed above could be prototyped using EZ-Robot in conjunction with off the shelf parts. What you will need, is a team of experienced people who can help with that prototype development. If you brought forward an idea and had the financial backing to fund it, this is the community who could help develop the solution.

@Jeremie I completely agree with that observation.
