I Would Like To Upgrade To 24 Volt

I have been a machine builder for 25 years , when I tear apart machines to throw away over the years i have saved the cool 24 volt gadgets like prox switches, vision systems lasers etc. They are ment to be run by plc's,but I think i could make some mind blowing stuff if I could get them to talk to ezb.My problem is I'm not an electronics guy. Can some one make me a imput output board to do this or does one exist? fert@greatlakes. net ps how much? most run 2.5 amps

So, do you need to be able to power up the 24 volt gadgets and have them controlled by EZB? Is your problem supplying the power to these 24 volt gadgets only?

If so you can just use a different power supply. You don't need to power your gadgets from the EZB board. You alternate power supply can either be an AC-DC power converter if it's stationery and near a AC power outlet or batteries connected in series to boost the DC voltage to 24vdc.

If using an alternate power supply you need to have the neutrals (black wires or ground) connected between it and the EZB to make it work properly. Then on the EZB just connect your signal and ground to the 24 volt gadget and from the power supply attach the positive and ground to the gadget.

Main power supplied to the EZB can be between 5 & 17 vdc. The higher the voltage the hotter the regulators run on the EZB. I have mine powered up at 12vdc and they run perfectly. So in theory you could just use one 24vcd power supply and buck down the voltage with a simple voltage converter to the EZB. You can build one very easily with just a few parts (could be as simple as a couple diodes to divide the voltage) or buy one. They're sold everywhere and cheap or there are directions all over the internet on how to build them. That's how I learned. I fingered that now that I'm into building my own robots, I need to know how to do simple things like convert power and solder simple homemade circuits. ;)

Hope this helps.

Good luck. If you have any questions or get stuck please ask. :)

Please post pictures or videos of your projects. They sound like they will be very interesting.
