Cam And Spasma

My human droid was working for 10 min. Now it does only cramps and do strange things. Besides is the camera not working. How do I reset the droid? How do I make a test the cam (head) for defect? And why does the charger only have LED in 2 and they are red and never turn green? Is my droid a monday model?

Regards Niels from DK

There's a few things you need to check for both the issues you're having, so please read below and check/answer the following questions.

The only reset option you can do on the robot/EZ-B, is resetting the WiFi network configuration. Are you sure that the battery is fully charged, and that the robot is receiving a strong enough WiFi signal from your computer or router?

Things to check for the camera...

  1. Can you see a fast flickering blue LED on the camera itself? When the camera is working correctly and the blue LED is flickering fast, it means the camera is fine but there is a communication error possibly with the cable. The fast flashing should start a couple of seconds after the EZ-B's power is switched on.

  2. Is the camera ribbon cable connected correctly? Try reseating the cable unplugging and reconnecting the cable at both ends, ensuring they are the correct way around. The cable plugs only connect one way, but can easily be forced to have it connected back to front.

  3. Is the camera IP address the same as your EZB? It should automatically be set, but make sure the cameras IP address is the same as the EZ-B (as seen in the connection control) with the only difference of leaving off the last two numbers. For example, if your EZ-B address is... 192.168.1.2:34, the cameras address should be... EZB://192.168.1.2

  4. You could start a new project, then add a new camera control, open it and select the cameras IP address, then press "Start" to see if it connects and starts streaming.

NOTE: I also see from your profile, that you have not done, or at least marked as completed, any of the Revolution JD. I strongly advise you to read through and complete the relevent courses to help you operate your JD in the correct manor. Link to the JD lessons are found in the learn section of the website, and is below...

Only 2 of the 3 LEDs will light up when charging JD's battery because it is a 2 cell battery. The charger works with 2 or 3 cell batteries and there is an LED for each one. Since they are not blinking, the battery is probably in good condition, but since they are red, it does need a charge. Did you charge the battery before the first use (as instructed in the small manual that came in the box)? If you fully discharge a Lithium Ion battery it will be ruined and never charge again. As soon as JD starts saying "My Battery is Low" you need to turn him off, let the batteries cool down for a little while, and then charge them until the lights turn green.

Thanks for the fast reply Alan and Guru. I have made the tutorials from another account thats why...

Anyway its still not working

Things to check for the camera...

  1. Can you see a fast flickering blue LED on the camera itself? NO I can't see any. The eyes of the JD is blue but the cam on JD's forehead is not flickering.

  2. Is the camera ribbon cable connected correctly? Try reseating the cable unplugging and reconnecting the cable at both ends, ensuring they are the correct way around. The cable plugs only connect one way, but can easily be forced to have it connected back to front.

Are you sure you are talking about the same robot. The cable is inside the head.

  1. EZB://192.168.1.2

its not 34 but 23 have changed it to EZB://192.168.1.2 still not working

  1. You could start a new project, then add a new camera control, open it and select the cameras IP address, then press "Start" to see if it connects and starts streaming. I have tried at new project - Still nothing.

Thanks for replying with what you have tried.

  1. The LED for the camera will not be obviously visible just looking at the head. In a dark room you may see a blue glow shining through the white plastic just under the lens. To be sure, and a clearer way to check would be to removed the 4 head screws, open the head, and remove the camera (see step 2). If there is no flickering or solid looking blue light on the camera, then it is not receiving any power.

  1. The cable I was talking about is used with all of the revolution robots with a camera. You would have to remove the 4 screws from the head and separate the two pieces, carefully remove the camera, carefully remove/check/reconnect the cable to the camera, then test the camera again. Also reseat the cable on the EZ-B end. If the camera works, put the head back together. If it still does not work, then use the Contact Us link to submit a warrenty claim referencing this thread.

  2. The IP address I gave in my first post was an example address, as I don't know what IP address you are using, or whether your EZ-B is in client mode or AP mode. Although right now this is a moot point, as the camera is not receiving power to work.

  3. At this point, starting a new project would not help if your camera does not have an LED showing, as the camera is not working.

EDIT:

If you have one of the newer cameras n JD's head, the LED will be green.
