Is the ARC compatible with a mac book pro because whn i am downloading it its saying it needs an application to open it

Requires Microsoft Windows 7 or Windows 8

It will not run natively on a mac, you will need to use some virtual machine/windows emulation software and run Windows 7 or higher inside of iOS.
