300 Amp Controller Question

Hi my name is Eric I appreciate the help I have received getting my ez-b up and going. I purchase 2 of the recommended 300 amp motor controllers from ebay and am having problem getting them to work. I configured them to a modified servo and have hooked the t terminal to a 12v large batter and the other 2 white and black wires to a 12v cordless drill motor and all it did was made a pulsating hum. I then hooked up a test light and all it did was flash every second or so. I then configured a motor speed controller to that port and if I slide the slider switch all the way to on the test light would not even flash. I then hooked up a modified servo that came with the ez robot kit and the servo worked great. Both of the 300amp controllers work the same. I also tied hooking up the t connecter on the 300 amp controller to 9v and the test light acted the same. Does any one have any ideals that can help me? Thanks in advance, Eric
