Jack Skellington Animatronic Conversion
I have a friend who wanted to transform a Jack Skellington Animatronic into a Slenderman figure for Halloween to display in her front yard. She's very much into arts and crafts and asked if I could assist with the electronics. I agreed to help and decided to take a closer look at the setup.
Initially, she wanted me to simply disconnect the existing electronics so it wouldn't talk or move, but I thought it would be worthwhile to inspect the internals.
To my surprise, the animatronic used what appeared to be standard RC servos. I had to remove some glue from the servo ports to unplug them, but it was relatively straightforward to connect the IoTiny. Jeremie provided me with a suitable power adapter to ensure we don't damage the servos.
Apologies for the image rotation; this forum seems to prefer displaying images wider rather than taller. I'll make sure to take proper pictures next time.

IoTiny Temporarily Taped In:
Head Reassembled:
The only component I didn't rewire was the jaw, primarily because Slenderman doesn't have much of a face. The jaw motor seemed to be different and had a unique connector that wasn't compatible with the IoTiny/EZB. We might need an H-Bridge to get that part operational.
I also used the Soundboard PC skill to upload a static sound, which is set to play randomly every 1-3 minutes during the motion loop. She plans to place a Bluetooth speaker in the head and connect it to a computer for the static sound.
Once we have the full animatronic operational, I should have more pictures of the completed project, including some of the actual 'arts' part of it.
What fun! I'm looking forward to seeing the final result. A video would be fun to watch. Thanks for sharing.
