Here is Cyberdude's little routine to get out of a sight situation. It tells the robot to check left and right to determine if there's a way out, otherwise, back up.

It assumes continuous rotation servos and a movement script for drive, but that can be replaced.

The robot's turns are "timed", not absolute. Imagine how cool this would be with a compass!
