This is a base holder for a Pi compatible-formfactor SBC, such as the Rock Pi/x and Up Board. For SBC's, such as the Rock Pi/x, the heatsink is at the bottom and heat rises. On a robot you'd most likely use risers to mount the PCB upside down. However, on your desk or a temporary robot installation, this allows the PCB to sit upright to allow the heatsink to cool.
