Robot Arm And Cmm Model Suggestion

Hi! I'm making a system to check the distance between two transparent plastic materials. I'm thinking about using micro robot arms to check the coordinates and deliver the data. But it needs to identify the pieces to check it. Maybe mechanically by touching or maybe with a sensor. Which robot arm and which sensor should i choose? I'm also thinking about using CMM's. Are they more feasible for this? Thanks
