Ez-B Conection Brownout

hi all still having problems getting started
i just got my pc reformatted (windows xp) and still no luck got this msg
in fermware updater

Attempting connection to COM3
Comm Err: The operation has timed out.
BbytesToExpect: 1

Received:
Disconnected
Connection Failed: System.Exception: Controller Not Responding
at EZ_B.EZB.Connect(String portName)
Disconnected

please help i dont know what else to try
i've had a new chip from The Master got new rechargable batteries (fully charged)
new BT dongle witch paired ok using windows BT stack
other than taking a solering iron to it i'm stuck
just a bt LED that goes solid for 2 or 3 seconds
and a big blue LED that flashes not pulses and laughs at me

yes i've seen tutorial and paired ok
but still only see LINVOR witch i'm led to believe is ez robots bluetooth name until
updated but i cant get that far.
