Does The Camera Have To Be Attached To The Servos That Move It

hello

Had an idea, since my wall e has a bunch of servos and light in his eyes, i wont be able to install my ezb cam in the head....

i was wondering....

if set up the camera above my monitor (stationary, separate from my wall-e)

and i assign the wall-e neck servos (neck left and right and neck up and down) to the camera

will wall-e head move (as if he were looking at me/tracking me)

while i interact with the camera above my monitor? (by face tracking or motion detection)

the goal is to get a sort of "kinect type feel" to the wall e i interact with the camera in front of me , while wall-e sits next to me "looking" at me

what do you guys think?

if my idea is possible my next mod is a globe...with 2 servos...one to tilt the worl d up and down and the second to make the world spin....

i m thinking i can wave my hands and the globe will move....

i just saw a videos where DJ Sures is using a robotic head....

i think hes using the camera on his lap top yet the eyes in the head next to the laptop are moving.

right?

if so, can i do the same set up, with motion tracking. and use this like a kinect....sorry for the multiple post...its late i need sleep.

im obsessed
