Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots Live Hack (Part 10)

I've always loved the look of the Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots game but absolutely hated the feel of it. My goal will to robotize the game. I'll be adding in Micro HDD servos for the punching arms and 2 mini gantry systems for the X-Y movement. I'd like the game to feel like a real life super punch out! I hope to add the capability to play with two players (USB joysticks), or against an A.I. opponent. I'd also like to incorporate the power glove in some way. While I'm not a fan of robot violence I do have a special place in my heart for friendly, non-destructive, competition.

This week we'll be putting the final touches on the project and getting the ARC project dialed in to be ready for some boxing!

Challenges still left to do:

  • Tweak Software/Hardware for: Player vs Player. Player vs AI, and AI vs AI

Is this the last episode for sock 'Em? Not sure if I will be home for this one as there is no internet at the place where I'm going tonight.I will watch the play back at a later time then.

It just might be the last one but I know whenever I say that there's always one more :D

I'm thinking about dropping the AI versus AI feature that I said I wanted to do because I'm not excited to put another backpack camera rig on the back of the red robot lol. That will save me a bit of time and possibly allow me to make this one the last episode.

Although, for my next live hack I was thinking about making an ARC embedded robot with a Raspberry Pi, the rock em' sock em' robots could be a good candidate.

Sounds good @Robo Rad, we'll miss you, but have yourself a great weekend!
