Synthiam's Founder & CEO, DJ Sures
DJ Sures is a Canadian entrepreneur, engineer, and innovator known for making robotics and artificial intelligence accessible to everyone. As the founder of EZ-Robot and later Synthiam, he has created technologies that power millions of robots worldwide and are used by educators, hobbyists, and enterprises across more than 80 countries.
His career began in robotics software for nondestructive testing, with forays into cybersecurity and applied AI/ML. Along the way, DJ has continually bridged the gap between cutting-edge research and practical applications—whether building hardware-agnostic robot platforms, designing redistributable technology packages, or even reviving vintage computers like the NABU to explore the roots of modern computing.
In 2012 he founded EZ-Robot, leading it until its acquisition in 2019. Drawing on that experience, he created Synthiam, a low-code platform designed to help companies and creators build intelligent robots faster, at lower cost, and with greater flexibility. Synthiam’s flagship products, ARC and Exosphere, combine intuitive design with AI-driven cloud services to unlock new possibilities in robotics.
DJ’s mission is simple: remove barriers so more people can innovate with robots. Whether through his companies, community mentorship, or public speaking, he continues to inspire others to imagine, build, and share the technologies that will define the future.

Origin Story
The inspiration for Synthiam originated in August 2011 at DJ's summer cabin while building a robot with his grandfather sitting nearby. His grandfather asked if DJ could teach him to make a robot. Knowing the many disciplines required to make a robot, he told his grandfather how challenging it is. His wise old grandfather sat back in his chair under the bright Ishkibibble Beach sunlight of Northern Lake Superior. He said, "Well, you can make a robot for yourself and have one, or make a platform to help others and have a million."
