Synthiam Cloud Is Leveling Up – Quick Maintenance Alert!

Hey, robot builders! We've got an exciting update that’s sure to supercharge your Synthiam experience. But first, we need a tiny bit of downtime to make it all happen.

🗓️ When?
April 23, 2025
Sometime between 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM Eastern Time

During this window, Synthiam servers will be briefly offline for just a few minutes while we flip the switch on a major server upgrade. It’s all part of keeping your robot builds powered with the fastest cloud possible!

Why the upgrade?
  • ⚙️ We’ve outgrown our last primary server update from 2 years ago
  • 💾 The current primary server is running low on space and needs a break
  • 🧠 The new server has 4 Xeon CPUs and RAM boosted from 128GB → 512GB
  • 🔁 We’re switching internal load balancer IPs and syncing to the cluster
  • 🛡️ Going offline for a few minutes ensures zero data loss

While the Synthiam cloud is powered by a distributed cluster, our primary server is the master of sync—so this change is key to keeping everything tight and tidy.

We’ve already confirmed this with our commercial customers. This note is just a heads-up for our awesome DIY community.

What's next?

Once the upgrade is complete, expect blazing-fast cloud service response times and even smoother robot building.

Got concerns or questions about the downtime? Let us know! We’re always here to help.

⚡ Keep building awesome things,
— The Synthiam Team

Artificial intelligence (AI) spam. Last Two posts. I'm seeing this more often. Sometime I see posts like it on a forum that I suspect are placed there by the owners of the site. It's called Padding.

Quote:

"padding" refers to the practice of posting unnecessary or low-effort replies to artificially inflate a user's post count. It is often considered a form of spamming or forum abuse, as it adds no real value to the discussion.
I'm not saying Synthiam is doing that here. It can also come from outside to draw attention to someone else's product.

I only bring this up to draw attention to this new trend of using AI to scam or redirect. Personally I was drawn into following false ads for pinball machines created by spammers using AI. I had been following an email advertising list sent to me daily for many years. It's for pinball machine owners from all over the world to post their games for sale. It was fun to watch and helped me keep track of what the game trends and sale prices were. Lately it's been flooded daily with obviously AI generated ads much like these two posts above. My tip off was that they all sound the same. Mostly the same information in short incomplete sentences, clear details and upgrades to the games, problems that are not there that other games have. Then the name of the seller is always a single first name and the email is always a Gmail address with only the name and usually a number added. Asking prices are at the low end of market pricing or below. I tried to contact the guy that owns and operates the list to call attention but got nothing back in response. Could it be the owner is padding to up the post count and keep the list relevant and alive? Don't know.:(

Be careful. Beware.;)
