Omni wheels I purchased the parts for this project over 9 months ago, and got going on it about 3 months ago. I am recovering from a stroke that occurred December 2[sup]nd[/sup]. I have recovered my speech fairly well, but I am slow speaking, and have memory issues. This project was interesting and challenging. The most difficult part was making it turn, and the weight distribution. First attempt was hinges on the knees, and torso supports to the center of the knees. Later it was changed to center pivot knees and hips, with the supports mounted on the back of the leg. The PVC pipe is very heavy, about 1.5 pounds of linear foot used. Even after cutting weight reduction holes, it still weighs over 8 pounds. I found some reasonable priced Omni wheels at the RobotShop.

Damm Steve. Sorry to hear about your stroke. That totally sucks. I'm so glad you're challenging yourself with this project. From what I see you haven't lost a step. You're still doing work that puts most of us robot builders to shame. You have the such a sweet vision of changing robotic movement into human flow and the craftsmanship skill to make it happen. I saw your vid and thought "how did he do that!"
Thanks for sharing.
steve S youre a survivor.recovering so fast is amazing.now i can see where the robots come from.
ps:sleep is the best medicine.take care.
Steve that's a real awesome robot! I think you're winning the number of robots on this website.
Cytron Tech Motors Dave, Thank you for the kind words. Glad you are getting settled into your new home, I enjoyed watching your unpacking and start up of your fantastic B9 Robot. I built the legs for my Borg 7 of 9 Robot, but it struggles to turn adequately, and is jumpy when it carries her body. If I lower the PWM to smooth it out, it lacks power. I purchased some great new Cytron Technologies motors from RobotShop, and I am trying to decide whether to replace the existing motors, or just build another set of legs. I could maybe use the existing set up on a lighter robot?
