I Would Like To Build A Robot/

I would like to build a robot/toy/doll for my soon to be 4 years old grand daughter. Any suggestions? models? Instructions? Although a civil engineer by training, I would be starting from scratch in "robotics". Just to have a toy to teach her by doing.

Thanks for your advice

:ermm:Check out thingiverse search for 3d printed puppet head ,  these are pupped heads you 3d print a head and you would have to add servos and an Io-Tiny controller to make the eyes move and the mouth move, the Io-Tiny has  a very good small speaker for sound.  if you go to the inmoov web site  , you can get the idea on how to make a mouth gimble and one for the eyes, but  with a puppet head it is just push pull-rods  you would then get or make a stuffed toy and put the puppet head in.    this is  all very complex but that is what we do here at synthiam, we make Robots.  of course ez-robot sells robots like JD Humanoid. I was thinking how to put JD into a teddy bear without the legs  or grippers and get the teddy  head and arms moving . these are just thoughts. as I am not sure of your skills. because your grand daughter is only 4 years old I was thinking of a soft robot.

One of our staff made a JD into a teddy bear robot for me. It's in my office on a shelf. He took a teddy bear and wrapped it around the JD. Took some sewing and i think the arms needed to be extended. But he wanted to recreate the teddy bear from the movie A.I.. Have you seen it? It's pretty cool

I'll see if i can find the video of the robot and show you
