Ladybug Lawn Mower 3D Designing the first 3d print

Here is the first draft of the ladybug lawn mower/ grass trimmer robot. Staggered wheels give a unique look. Also I plan to give the wheels about a 20 degree camber as well. I will post some other views shortly. :)

After the first initial draft, I can tell the area under the head needs to be about twice as thick. This way it has room for the heads servos and rs550 motors as well.

Here are other views of the initial draft of the ladybug model. I can see the wheels will need to be shifted to the  rear and a couple inches closer together.

Here my revised idea of how that should look. The wheels closer together but still staggered.

This may look a little wierd but the very front and very rear dont have much weight in them.

@[u]jstarne1 [/u] I have to ask, and might of missed one of your postings, But Are you going to be printing this on the new extra large 3D printer you were building?? Its all gone quiet on the progress of the build, and I know there were a few folks very interested on how it was going to perform, including myself, have you had major issues with the build??

Hello Cem! , I do intend on printing the extra large parts on the extra large printer if possible. The printable area on the big printer I believe is 19 inches by 26 inches, so I would still need to break up parts into 2-4 pieces. The big printer is not up yet, I am to the step up loading firmware and configuring which is a bear to do because this is a completely DIY machine with NO INSTRUCTIONS for this from the kit maker.

Great to hear your still working on the 3D printer build! Can’t wait to see it fully built and in action. :)

My thought with the 6 wheel design is in turning I've seen other similar robots turn "herky-jerky" and bounce like a low rider.  You may not have those issues, just wanted mentioned I've seen others have that issue.

I have not seen that, but we will certainly see when we have a live model. If I need to reduce it to 4 wd that is doable. The motors are worm gear super high toque so it should move in a very controlled way. Do you have any videos of stuff you could point me to that you are seeing that?

I'll see if I can find a video of the behavior of what I'm talking about.

Hello all, it has been a couple months , but I have updates on the models

This is the collection of changes for the next round of files. Mostly minor, but I want them done before initial prints.

The head is not included , but I will update that as soon as possible.

Hey, I keep myself asking... Do you send sketches to this guy on Fiverr and you are getting a printable model back? Are you getting .stl or Fusion 360 files...does the guy know about 3d printing, talking about wall thickness, overhangs etc?

Did you find him first shot, or did you try different guys? Would you mind sharing who he is?

I am always doing the modeling myself...but I did a few things on Fiverr already eg ZOEs sound design and the logo on the website...and I feel Fiverr could be worth to be explored more! :)

Yes she understands wall thickness and such. She is good for the money. Here is a screenshot of my modeler

I usually get either.stl files or .obj files. She did do modeling in fusion but she switched to blender just recently

You were the first one here that I have seen doing this type of concept to full 3D model approach using that platform!
